Prof. Hu’s research interests focus on quality of life and health-related behavior of patients with chronic disease, especially in hematology-oncology and palliative care. The emphases of their team works are from screening and early detection, treatment or clinical trial, management of survivorship and hospice palliative care of terminal patients. To improve the care quality of hematology-oncology and palliative nursing, they are also interested in translational research or clinical trial.

They also relief family caregiver burdens family nursing. These models emphasize comprehensive and humanized care which can provide seamless care for promoting life quality and good death of dying patients. Their major research interests are the outcome research in educating and counseling patients, collaborating with physicians and other health care providers, ethical dilemma and comparison of making referrals or evaluating nursing interventions (ex: advance care planning) related to hospice-palliative care or clinical trial.

Beside research, their research team create many native teaching material and multimedia interactive teaching strategy. To elevate the clinical research quality and protect the research participant’s benefits and rights, the formal curriculum of clinical research nurse in graduate institute were established since 2005 by them. The clinical research nurse will learn advance practice nurse (APN)in future.
