Master of Applied Psychology City University of Macau, Postgraduate Diploma of Specialty in Emergency Nursing of Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Bachelor of Science in Nursing of Macao Polytechnic Institute. Former nurse of Accident and Emergency Department of Centro Hospitalar Conde de São Januário (C.H.C.S.J.), dedicated her effort in promoting the specialty development of Emergency Nursing with programs and projects such as electronic triage system, in-hospital cardiac arrest management and transfer of critically ill patients. Current senior nurse of Nursing Department of C.H.C.S.J., has been devoting herself to facilitate nursing quality improvement and hospital quality management. She has assisted in the hospital accreditation program of C.H.C.S.J. with remarkable achievements. Being a member of Nursing Council of C.H.C.S.J., she is responsible for proposing professional-ethics recommendations in the practice of nursing and measures that guarantee the improvement of the quality of nursing care as well as making recommendations in regard with necessary measures for the humanization of health care.

Abstract

Development and Transformation of Advanced Practice Nursing

The COVID-19 epidemic in Macao is part of the ongoing worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Macao has experienced two waves of epidemic with 48 cumulative cases. Among those 48 cases, only 1 of them were severe while all others were mild. With the perseverance and joint collaboration of the Macao Government and Macao citizens, no deaths result from the disease, no healthcare providers were infected and no community spread had happened.  The Macao Government’s lead together with the cooperation of every involved professional to make it complete, nevertheless, nurses play an essential role in the COVID-19 epidemic in Macao. Different nursing specialties including Infection Control Nursing, Emergency Nursing, Critical Care Nursing, Rehabilitation Nursing, Mental Health Nursing and Community Nursing have been contributing their talented professionalism and make differences in fighting the battle against COVID-19 Macao.
